Motherplucker
Our Story
Mother nature, mother Earth, motherland, mother tongue, yeast mother, motherboard — all places that hold memory. Motherboard brings together many loves: food, design, story, nurture and nature.
Growing up, Beth, the founder of Motherboard, learned about the meaning of food. It brought the family together during times of celebration, and times of challenge. She looked forward to every weekend when she could spend time with her mother, her grandmothers, and her fairy godmother, Julia Child. Beth would turn on PBS to watch The French Chef and learn about the joy of trying, the humor in erring, and triumph in trying again.
A long line of mothers taught us all what we know about food, starting with our own mothers. Mama, or some variant of the word, is the way billions of babies around the world refer to their mothers. In Latin, mamma is the word for breast, evolving into the English for mammal. To our earliest selves, mama means food, comfort, love. Mother.
Each Motherboard offered is named after the many mothers in Beth’s life: her own mother, Dawn, her Swedish exchange student mother, Eva, her grandmothers, Ruth & Louise, and her aunts, Alice & Brenda.
Mother knows best.
Our Belief
We feel fortunate to make Motherboards for people. If you feel fortunate and able, we offer you an opportunity to roundup to the nearest dollar on checkout, or to buy a Motherboard for another mother, or a family, in need during the holidays.
